Taking care of your skin is the last item on most individual’s daily agenda, especially men. It is ironic considering your skin is the largest organ in your body. Our daily lives are so hectic that even most women do not take care of their skin properly.
The incidents of skin cancer are rising at alarming rates. It is said that 1 out of every 5 Americans may contract a form of skin cancer. The number of people suffering each year is over 100,000. We hear so much about global warming but they fail to tell us about the increased risk of damage to our skin.

Skincare has become very complicated due to the massive amount money to be made in skincare products. We are bombarded with products that claim to eliminate wrinkles and make our skin healthier. In order to take care of your skin you first need to know what type of skin you have. There are three basic types of skin:

Oily Skin: If you have oily skin
there will be a shine to your complexion. This type of skin is very common. Teens hate oily skin because it is an acne magnet. Oily skin attracts and collects dirt and dust molecules. This is where the blackheads and acne come from. If you have oily skin you will want to wash and clean regularly. Do not use strong chemical cleansing bars. Find a product that cleanses without all the chemicals. Wash with warm water and rinse with cold. Make sure your cleansing bar is not moisturizing as this can actually make oily skin worse.

Dry Skin: You will know if you have dry skin. It often flakes and cracks and can an even become painful. Your skin often feels very tight. It tightens even more after you have washed. It is very important not to wash with hot water. Make sure your cleanser has moisturizers in it but not alcohol. Hot, dry or even extreme dry cold will make your dry skin worse.

Combination Skin: This is the type of skin that most of us have. You can have oily areas around your nose, eyes, and chin but your cheeks and hands will often be very dry. You need to find a neutral cleanser that works to help dry the oily areas and moisturize the dry. You should use a cleanser for the oily areas and lotion for the dry areas.

Understanding what type of skin you have is the first step in skincare. Your skin is an incredible organ and you should take care of it. Start by researching the products you are already using. Chances are they are not the right product for you. The Aqua Marina cleanser . . . it's got seaweed, chamomile and aloe vera in it. After using it just one time, my skin was transformed! So soft! No more redness! It's a miracle in a plastic container.

The Eu Roma Aqua water: you just spray this stuff on your face, and it calms and cools, and smells like roses. I love it. You can also spray it on a cotton pad, and use it to remove makeup residue, if there's anything left behind after washing.

Paradise Regained moisturizer: This is the only moisturizer I've EVER tried that is both light and effective. It's also the first one I've tried that doesn't make me break out.

Dream Cream Body Cream: A perfect name for a product that goes on like a dream, and makes your skin softer than you ever thought possible. You only need a tiny bit - it goes a long, long way.

I also should mention that the lovely lady helping me (Liz) was very nice and extremely helpful. She had me try things to determine which products were right for my skin. She also gave me a couple of samples: a little bar of hand soap (which I love), and some neck cream. I can't wait to go back and buy more stuff!"

"I wouldn't normally be the first to sing the praises of a cosmetics store, but there is something so alluring about this Newbury oasis. It's a bazaar of rich, warm-smelling soaps and indulgent bath items. That's good enough, but better yet are the cute girls dedicated to finding the right product for you. I have a problem, a product problem. I recently put together (all by myself!) a sweet bathroom shelf thingy that I purchased at Target. I filled it to the brim with all my scents, splashes, lotions, creams, unicorn tears, polishes, scrubs, bits and bobbles. It looks like a frickin' store. It is glorious. I look forward to the day when it comes crashing down and everything falls into my toilet. Oopsy, I forgot to put the anchors in. :-P

Living on the Newbs, I had walked by the heavily scented Lush many times and somehow resisted the urge to go in. I have to admit that I look on their website and ogle their goods. It is like product porn. Damn!

In search of a birfday gift for my beloved's fantastic sister, I thought I should share my product love with her. I was instantly overwhelmed when I entered Lush, but fortunately (?) a charming young sales chica came right up to me to point out each and every product and make gift suggestions. She also informed me of the current promotion of spend 40 smacks and get a free shower bomb, spend 50 smacks and get the bomb and a goodie bag. Gooooooooodie! She was friendly and sweet. I appreciated the help. She even scrubbed my hands with a lovely exfoliating Buffy body butter. The name alone won me over (i like Buffy. meow.)
I walked in circles, touched, sniffed, caressed, licked, and wanted every item. But I had to focus. I was on a mission for a gift. The product packaging is minimal for the lovely fresh ingredients that go into the items. They do have premade gift boxes with fun names like the Good Karma gift set and Butterfly kiss gift set. They also have a gift wrapping service ($) if you want to make up your own gifts. After what felt like three hours of absorbing all the lush scents into my brain, I decided to go with the "It's a Wrap" gift set, which is an organic cotton travel case for lush goodies that had three tins in it for me to fill with products for m'lady. I chose the Buffy body butter (obvi), the Each Peach massage bar, and the Karma Komba solid shampoo! It looks like candy!!!! A succesful birfday gift, I do believe.
I made the quota for the free stuff and the goodie bag was filled with samples of various items like shower gel, a bath bomb, and butter cream. yayay.
I love that the products are natural and some are vegan. I desperately want to go back and buy a shower jellie for myself. Don't tell my mom, she says I have too many products "that you will never use!!" I use them all lady, I use them all."

"When the first ever outpost opened up in my home city, everyone was obsessed with it. It wasn't just a fad, it was THE latest fad. Everyone was buying bath bombs left and right, and we thought it was so cool to compare soaps and smells. Ok, I was in middle school at the time, but I knew plenty of adults who were obsessed with it too.
Over time, the fad faded away, and while there was still no better place to get a bath bomb and many fans of the store remained, the amount of people complaining about the whiff and overwhelming scents of the store (even as they walked past or were in stores across the walkway) increased. My Lush usage slowly decreased over the years as I just didn't have the energy to keep replacing and buying more products from there, and I dunno, it just faded away.
As time went by, I started missing it again. So when I got to Boston and realised they had Lush here too, I was pretty happy. I don't visit on a super-regular basis, but I'm so glad it's around. Their products are fantastic, and to be honest I think I love it more now than ever before because their range of products has increased so much and really improved since the days of my memory.
Fizzing bath bombs, bath melts, crumbly bath bars, their shower and bath products, soaps, etc. will leave your skin soft, fragrant, and turn each bath or shower from a simply daily task to a wholly wonderful and exciting experience. They are usually gentle, and if you read up on which benefits each product offers (and how that can suit your needs), you can really gain great things from it be it softer skin, sensitive products, intense moisturization, glittery shimmer, destressing, energizing, calming, or just a helluvalot of bubbles. And they really do work.
The massage bars can be a bit too heavy and creamy for me at times, but in winter/fall they are fantastic and I love their melty texture, whether its smooth shea butter with rose petals or grainy ones for muscle tension release. They'd be great in summer too, but be prepared to really intensely quench skin.
I most recently tried their face masks, and I'm a huge fan. The cupcake mask is thick and effective, making my skin soft with smaller pores, superrefreshed and clean with all the crap sucked out within just one or two uses already. And it left my face smelling of chocolate just enough so it was enticing not overwhelming for half a day at least. I definitely recommend many of their products if they suit your lifestyle, but a note: their hair products *could* cause buildup so remember to use a clarifying shampoo every now and then too.

"I've been a Lush addict for about five years now and I was so excited to be moving back to a city that not one, but THREE Lushes in the area!
I really don't use anything but Lush products on my hair (except for a couple of styling products), body and face. My hair and skin have never been healthier. The products are all handmade in Vancouver (for Lush North America; Lush was born in the UK) and they use mostly natural and organic ingredients. The ingredients that aren't natural are mostly used as stabilizers for the naturals; there's a very very small percentage used.
Technically, the Harvard Square shop should be my "Home store," but for some reason, I end up in the Newbury Street location more times than not. The sales team there is great- they really know the product and can help you find the product that's right for you.

Lush has great promotions. Spend a certain amount, get some stuff free. They'll also give you free samples of anything they sell in bulk so you can try before buying. They are and always have been an environmentally-friendly company."

"Ok...so I LOVE Lush! I have been hooked ever since I first went in a store in London... I didn't know they had them here in the states so when I dragged my relocated ass down Newbury street for the first time I actually did a dance of glee! The staff here are always supercool and camp..in fact, at my last trip the guy heard my accent and talked to me about British pop music. Girls aloud fan methinks!.
I love the bubble bars where you crumble them under the bath water for bubbles and divine smells. I also swear by the Ocean scrub stuff that has vodka and sea salt and lime in it. Its for the face but I use it all over to exfoliate. I also adore the candy fluff - talc powder with glitter in that smells like candy.
